Lady Trojans win two, DC splits at annual jamboree

With the start of the season coming this week, girls soccer teams from Dyersburg and Dyer County got their final preseason work in on Saturday morning as the two local teams took part in the annual Dyersburg Girls Soccer Jamboree at Dyersburg High School.

The Lady Trojans took care of business in the opening game of the day, showcasing their offensive side of the team with a 7-0 win over Obion County Central to get the day going.

The Lady Trojans will see the Lady Rebels again during the regular season as they will travel to Troy on Thursday, Sept. 19 to face Central in District 13AA action.

Dyersburg also looked strong in the Lady Trojans' second game of the day, defeating Haywood 9-0 in the final game of the day for the black and gold.

The black and gold girls will also face the Lady Tomcats in regular season action, hosting Haywood on Monday, Sept. 16.

Meanwhile, Dyer County had a rough start to their jamboree day, falling 7-0 to Henry County in the Lady Choctaws' first match.

The orange and white were able to bounce back in their second game. The Lady Choctaws were able to defeat Crockett County 4-1 in the final game of the jamboree.

Dyer County and Crockett County will meet again in the regular season on Monday, Sept. 9 in Alamo in District 13AA play.

Dyersburg opens the 2024 season on Thursday when the Lady Trojans host St. Mary's Episcopal School at 6 p.m.

Dyer County is scheduled to open their regular season on Monday when the Lady Choctaws travel to Martin to take on Westview at 6 p.m. Dyer County will then go right into district play when they host South Gibson on Tuesday, Aug. 20 at 5:30 p.m.
