Mrs. Chloe Garner
Newbern Elementary School
Mrs. Chloe Garner is a 2nd-grade teacher at Newbern Elementary School. She brings 25 years of experience into the classroom and says she "loves to see little minds come alive when they 'get it'."
Principal Kevin Hill says, "I am so grateful for Mrs. Garner's hard work. She works tirelessly to connect to her students and families and she does it with passion, flexibility, and grace. She is completely invested in teaching and nurturing all of her students".
Ms. Lisa Slayback
Dyersburg Middle School
Mrs. Slayback has been in education for 19 years, with her last three years at Dyersburg City Schools. As an 8th-grade Science and Social Studies teacher, her love for American History is evident in her teaching. As a veteran of the United States Army, she has spread her patriotic spirit throughout DMS by founding the Junior America Citizen Club.
With the support of the Key Corner DAR and Junior American Citizens Club 24 new American Flags were placed in classrooms and offices throughout DMS this year. When asked about her class, students say, "Mrs. Slayback is easy to talk to and willing to help her students." She is driven and focused on growing every student in her path!
