Dyer County Lady Choctaws take second, boys third in District 14AA Tournament
Both Dyer County golf teams are one step closer to reaching the Class AA State Tournament as both the Choctaws and Lady Choctaws placed in the top three as teams in Monday's District 14AA Tournament at Humboldt.
The Dyer County girls came off the course in second place on the day. Lady Choctaw golfer Kennedy Hill placed second overall as an individual with an 89 while Lily Flagg placed fifth with a 99.
South Gibson won the girls tournament with a 162 while Dyer County finished with a 188.
Dyer County advances to next week's Region 7AA Tournament on Monday which will also be held at Humboldt Country Club.
On the boys side, Dyer County kept its season alive as the Choctaws placed third to advance to the region tournament.
Freshman Hoss Harrison led the way for Dyer County with a 79, which also earned him a fifth place finish on the day.
South Gibson's boys took the district championship with a score of 326 while Lexington finished second with a 331. Dyer County came in two strokes back of second place with a 333.
The Choctaws also head to Monday's region tournament with a chance at reaching the state tournament on the line.
The team which wins the region tournament qualifies for state. Individually, the top three golfers not on the winning team also advance to the state tournament.
