On Saturday, September 28, the Dyer County Branch of the NAACP held a “Healthy Fair” at McIver’s Grant Public Library in Dyersburg. The Self-Care Awareness Month activity included blood pressure checks, Narcan training for opioid overdoses, mental health awareness and women’s health awareness information. Relatedly, participants got financial tips, heard about life insurance to cover burial costs, could register to vote, and learned about the ways to vote. Local NAACP director Tiffany Tipton-Boyd said, “We like to give…help people find resources and information…that will help them financially and physically. We want to help them to be aware of themselves and what’s available to them.”
