The Dyer County Middle School Lady Choctaw soccer team took its first step towards a regional championship on Monday as the orange and white girls took a 4-0 win over Maxine Smith Steam Academy at Dyer County High School in the TMSAA Small Region Tournament Quarterfinal.

Dyer County got on the board early, getting a goal from Addisyn Trout in the sixth minute off an assist from Emma Pearson.

The Lady Choctaws added to their lead late in the half on a second Trout goal to push the DCMS lead to 2-0 at the half.

Ten minutes into the second half, Dyer County began to pull away as a Mia Russell pass found Charlotte Flagg who put the ball in the net for another Lady Choctaw goal and a 3-0 DCMS lead.

With about five minutes left in the game, Trout completed her hat track with a goal assisted by Pearson.

With the win, Dyer County advanced to Wednesday's region semifinal against Fayette West. A win there will put the Lady Choctaws in the region championship game against the winner of JP Freeman and Memphis Rise, which Dyer County would host (tentatively at Dyer County High School).
