Flutter Pickles, Fairy Dust, and Crunch Crunch Berries
In my mind today I am thinking about flutter pickles, fairy dust, crunch crunch berries, and all the great times I have had with my grand girls. I cannot believe another season is upon me and my older Grands are a senior and a freshman. Where are the days that were filled with such Garden fun with their Grammy? The oldest is a senior and I keep seeing all of these pictures of little girls who have become wonderful, intelligent young women. I knew when we lost their dad to the other side, life was going to be different for them. I am so thankful for the mother and father that have raised them to be such wonderful young ladies.
Did you know that your heart can never be in two places at once? If it is then it's nowhere. Lately, I have put my heart in my present moments and looked forward instead of behind. I saw a tribute to their Dad where the girls were celebrating his birthday in September and I thought what a beautiful tribute. I felt so proud. He is now celebrating with his father above; I'm sure of it. The wonderful girls they have become is a testament to life going forward and doing the best you can even though your heart is breaking.
This season has turned into my favorite. I love all of the activities that help me do good for others. It keeps me going and it helps me so much to know that God is not finished with me yet. Just to be here to witness the beauty of my God and all He gives me is enough. This is what I wish for all of you today is to have enough. Enough attention to help those around you. Care enough to pray for those who struggle with homelessness and addictions. We can turn anything around, how? Try looking around and out of yourself. Yes, check your selfish self.
Society is telling us it's all about us. That is the furthest thing from the truth. We absolutely have some hard problems but we absolutely have some of the smartest, toughest and God-filled people in this little city. God's Providence is greater. Remember the Renaissance? The Great Awakening? St Benedict's time in the desert? We are capable of turning things back if we just let go of the world today. God is close to the Broken-hearted. America is broken-hearted as we read our papers and we see another young person dying addicted to such horrible drugs. We are able with God to do anything. Here is the key students. We have to turn back to God because he has never left us; we have left Him. We have given our children to strangers in a black box to read and rock them to sleep. We are allowing their attention spans to be eroded away and shaped by something that is not of God. It’s something that God warned us about, this fallen world. We need to take our children back. I agree with the back row that everything can be used for the good, but the damage and evidence is piling up. Go back to those days of flutter pickles, fairy dust, and crunch crunch berries they spent in the garden with Grammy and Poppy. We need to be there for our children. We need to teach them and not just give them a distraction you know exactly what I mean back row put your phones down. We are all guilty but everything that we have doesn't have to be used in a selfish, narcissistic way. Try to do things in a selfless way.
I pray for all of your hearts today as I hope you pray for mine. I have a big month coming up with the race. Two years ago, born from the Autumn March for ALS because of a special Friendship between two tough girls in wheelchairs became Addi's Haunted Trail now Addi's Spooktacular Adventure. It is FREE!
Please support us this Fall. I know times are tough, but consider coming and being IRL and bring your children my former students. Friends bring your Grands. Purchasing a shirt gives us a $10 profit for kids shirts and scholarships. I understand that times are hard for us all but if I could get 200 racers I could create so many good opportunities with scholarships and for research. None of this money is ever kept, it is always given back to the community.
Students, you are probably wondering what in the world are flutter pickles, fairy dust, and crunch crunch berries. These are just some of the things that my Grand girls named in my garden. Look at the photos and I will show you and give you an explanation. Thank you guys so much for listening and loving me as well as your neighbor. Let's have a great October!
