Newbern receives Transportation Enhancement Grant

Newbern city officials met with state and local leaders in the town's Municipal Courtroom on Wednesday, Aug. 1, to accept a Transportation Enhancement Grant in the amount of $229,789.

The funds will be used to complete the Depot Connection Project, an initiative to add ornamental lighting, crosswalks and landscaping to Newbern's downtown district. The grant will also repair sidewalks along Jefferson and East Main streets, increasing ADA-accessibility for residents and rail customers.
