DCHS held its Investment in Excellence assembly in the school gym, on Wednesday, Oct. 31. The annual assembly is an opportunity for educators and administrators to acknowledge the achievements of the top ten percent of the sophomore, junior and senior classes -- and to announce the school's Most Valuable Choctaw. Six members of the DCHS Class of 2013 were presented as candidates for the 19th annual Most Valuable Choctaw, with Amanda Jean Mannis, daughter of Terence and Juanita Mannis, chosen for the honor. Other candidates included Collin Dietrich, son of Beverly Deitrich and Tim Dietrich; Carl Jones, son of Katrina Russell and Darryl Jones and nephew of Wanda and Eugene Smith; Morgan Walker, daughter of Kenneth and Susan Walker; Miranda Redden, daughter of Reginald and Charlotte Redden; and Tiffani Lee, daughter of Brian Lee and Jackie Kent. Jon Moore served as the keynote speaker at the assembly.
