Employees displaced by the closing of Dyersburg Fabrics got their second piece of good news in a week Tuesday when it was announced they qualify for extended unemployment insurance. "We were notified (Tuesday) that the main Dyersburg plant and the knitting plant on Hoff Road have been approved for both Trade Readjustment Assistance and North American Free Trade Agreement transitional adjustment assistance," said Ronnie Gunnells, career center coordinator of the Northwest Tennessee Job Center, formerly the local Employment Security office. ...

Dyer County students have been fighting fire through posters. Around 200 participated in the 2001-02 Dyer County Fire Department fire prevention poster contest, held in November.
