Dyersburg City Schools held its annual Teacher Appreciation Dinner on Monday night at the Lannom Center to honor eight retiring teachers, the 2001-02 Teachers of the Year and teachers recommended for tenure in the coming academic year. The teachers who are retiring at the end of this year include the following: Barbara Eller, 34 years with Dyersburg City Schools and 37 years in teaching; Betty Free, 23 years in the city system and 34 total years of teaching experience; Betty Gardner, who spent all of her 27 years of teaching in Dyersburg; Dottie Leach, 31 years in city schools and 37 years overall; Lou Ella Ray, 33 years of teaching with 19 years spent in the city system; Virginia Voss, 26 years with city schools of 32 overall years teaching; Ken Webster, 35 years teaching in the city system of 39 years total; and, Teresa Willis, 12 years in the city school system out of a total of 31 years of teaching experience. ...
