A Dyersburg man pleaded guilty to three cocaine charges May 14 in Dyer County Circuit Court and was sentenced to serve 16 years in prison. Rynell Lovins, 32, of 1009 Compress St., pleaded guilty to one charge of simple possession of more than .5 gram of cocaine, one of possession of more than .5 gram of cocaine with intent to sell or deliver and one of sale of more than .5 gram of cocaine and was sentenced to serve eight years on each charge. ...

Mississippi River to crest today

The Mississippi River is expected to crest today at 42.0 feet on the Caruthersville, Mo., river gauge. That's 10 feet above flood stage, and half a foot lower than predicted late last week. Cargill sale complete

As reported first in the May 1 State Gazette, Cargill AgHorizons has sold its Dyersburg facility to Obion Grain Co. According to records in the Dyer County Register's office, Cargill sold the facility and property to Obion Grain Co. for $300,000. Cargill purchased the property from Continental Grain Co. in July 1999 for $1,591,691. Cargill will continue to operate its Hales Point and Tiptonville facilities...

Diamond Dolls win two in Arkansas tournament

The Tennessee Diamond Dolls participated in the 36-team Bomber Invitational at Marion, Ark., picking up two wins in the double-elimination event before being eliminated. A tough-luck, 3-2 loss to the powerful Southern Starz bumped the team from the tournament.
