Last call for dead crows, blue jays

After Wednesday, the Dyer County Health Department will no longer accept any dead crows or blue jays for West Nile Virus testing. W.D. Hilliard, the health department's environmentalist, said enough infected birds have been documented here to believe that the virus is present throughout the county. The expensive testing procedure is needed only to track the spread of West Nile virus, and once the virus' presence is documented, no more testing is needed...

Armed robbery this morning in city

The Dodge Store on South Main Street in Dyersburg was robbed this morning at 4:30 a.m. by a black male who held a gun to the head of a cashier and demanded money. Police reports note the man is five-feet, seven-inches tall, thin, and was wearing a light blue jacket and white jeans.
