City wants written policies for gun club

City residents who have complained about noise at the Dyersburg Gun Club off Phillips Street Extended south of the Dyersburg Industrial Park would have to take private action in order to reduce noise at the shooting range. City attorney John Lannom in a meeting with aldermen and gun club representatives said that any reduction of noise levels at the range would have to be "achieved through a private course of action. The chief question is if any substantial change in use can be proven."...

The notorious phrase needs no explanation, but recent changes and technological advances to the 911 emergency systems in dispatch centers across Dyer County may alter the actions and methods that drive it. In an effort to keep up with the influx of growth in the region, along with the pervasive use of cellular technology, the Dyer County 911 Board began contracting all of its new address information to the Dyersburg Public Works Department last March, while updating technology that will prove helpful in locating people calling from cellular phones. ...

Amanda Hendrix, a Dyersburg High School sophomore, is one of about 50 FFA members who've been selected to perform during the National FFA Convention next month. It will be her first big gig as a soloist. The 15-year-old daughter of Kim and Tim Hendrix said she began singing at family gatherings when she was just a toddler. She made her public debut when she was in the seventh grade and she joined the youth group at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church...
