Board approves first phase dollars for new walking trail

The Dyersburg Board of Mayor and Aldermen on Monday night approved a transfer of funds from the Dyersburg Activity Center to the Future City community center that will allow a contractor to complete the first phase of a new walking trail. The transfer of $5,300 meant that Leake Excavating could dig and level a one-third mile long path encircling the center and its ball field that will connect with existing sidewalks and a city right of way. ...

TWRA seeks permits to open Reelfoot's boat channels

Efforts to open boat channels through Reelfoot Lake have stalled as the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency obtains environmental permits. TWRA began using a jet-spray dredge in August to suck up mud and decaying plant material on the channel bottom, shred it and spew it out in a fine mist. Crews didn't get too far, though.
