Coast Guard investigating barge collision with bridge; river traffic resumes

Salvage work on nine damaged barges in the Mississippi River is expected to begin on Friday and last two to three weeks, according to the U.S. Coast Guard Marine Safety Office in Memphis. The towboat, Crimson Duke, was pushing 42 barges downstream Sunday afternoon when it struck one of the piers supporting the Interstate 155 bridge.
