No more unlimited service calls for water, gas customers

The Dyersburg Water, Sewer and Gas Committee recommended to the full city board on Wednesday that the policy of unlimited free service calls for turning on gas or water for customers be dropped due to a personnel shortage. Dyersburg Police receive $10,000 grant

The Dyersburg Police Department will receive a $10,000 grant to reduce traffic accidents in an area of the city between the interstate and Highway 51 Bypass that is home to numerous fast-food outlets and restaurants. Capt. Mark Moody, who oversees training for DPD and wrote the grant proposal, said studies had shown the area in and around the Dyersburg Mall, including a section of Highway 78 known locally as "hamburger alley," had the highest rate of auto accidents and DUI arrests in the city. ...
