Lifebeat feels increasing pulse of clients; pregnancy center relies on donations, volunteers

The number of appointments made at the Lifebeat Pregnancy Care Center in Wynnburg has more than tripled in the last year. Director Dee Keeling said the number rose from 17 in 2003 to more than 70 so far this year. That doesn't translate into more than 70 females seeking help; some have had several appointments. Dreams come true for two boys

Nick Bingham and Carson Constant don't know each other, but the boys have one thing in common. Both got extra-early Christmas presents from the Dream Factory, a Dyersburg group that grants the dreams of critically and seriously ill children. Nick Bingham, a 12-year-old Tiptonville boy, dreamed of going to a NASCAR race and meeting Jeff Gordon. Dream Factory sent him to the Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama in October. City sales tax revenues flat through fall
