Guardsmen press for the lead in Walk Across Tennessee

Walk Across Tennessee has gone international. Five of the 83 teams participating in the walking competition will do all of their walking without even stepping foot on this continent. Adult spelling bee dedicated to Rimel, Guard unit

The annual Matthew 25:40 adult spelling bee will be dedicated this year to Capt. Chris Rimel and the 230th Area Support Group of the Tennessee Army National Guard. The unit, headquartered in Dyersburg, is now deployed to Kuwait. "Chris has been a strong supporter of the spelling bee since its inception," said Bart Williams, chairman of the committee planning the adult spelling bee. 9-1-1 board to fund study

The board that oversees 9-1-1 in Dyer County has agreed to fund a $7,500 study on the possibility of consolidating its number of emergency call-in centers from three to one. There are at present three locations in where dispatchers receive emergency calls for assistance: the Dyer County Sheriff's office, the Newbern Police Department and the Emergency Operations Center in Dyersburg. ...

Trojans' dreams of state tournament end with Region 7-AAA semifinal loss to Cordova
