Local sales tax collections up 2.29 percent for fiscal year

Total sales tax collections in Dyer County for the 2004-05 fiscal year were 2.29 percent above 2003-04, a state revenue department report shows. "We had our highest yearly collections ever," county Trustee Judy Patton said. "We edged up 2.29 percent for the year, even though our collections [reported in] June were down 0.7 percent from June last year."...

Proposed city budget has 13-cent tax increase

Dyersburg aldermen picked up copies of the proposed city budget for 2005-06 at 4 p.m. Monday, which required a 13-cent property tax increase to cover costs of operations. If the $43,550,250 general budget is passed by the city board as is, the tax rate will climb from $1.72 to $1.85...
