Conferences scheduled at Dyer County High School

Dyer County High School is asking parents of all sophomores to attend a series of 30-minute workshops Feb. 7 that should help to improve a student's chances of success in entering college. John Snider, director of curriculum at DCHS, said the approximate 270 sophomores in the school were given the ACT "PLAN" test in November of 2005, which is a pre-ACT exam, and the test results are now available...

Race for U.S. Senate in state to cost $22 million, Frist estimates

U.S. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Nashville, said Thursday he expects the two eventual party nominees to replace him in the Senate will each spend $11 million on the campaign. "It's just a guess, but I think it will cost about $11 million for each candidate for the primary and the general election," Frist said in response to a question during a teleconference with eight selected journalists from across the state.
