Car crashes into restaurant; two diners taken to hospital

An elderly man accidentally drove his car into Neil's Barbeque & Grill on Mall Boulevard during the busy lunch time Monday, injuring a diner inside and smashing inward the brick frontage and windows. John Woods Jr., 77, of Dyersburg, told Dyersburg Police he was looking for his daughter's car when he accidentally stepped on the accelerator, instead of the brake, of the 2001 Nissan Altima. Group to focus on unsightly entrances to city

The City Beautiful Committee want major improvements to take place at the three main entrances to the city -- Lake Road to the north, Highway 51 Bypass south and along Highway 412. The committee members said in a meeting with the mayor on Tuesday that poor choices of shrubs and flowers, improper pruning techniques, overcrowding of plants and limited attention to long-term maintenance have left the beds and city welcome signs unsightly through much of the year and major overhauls are in order...
