Commission to consider lease

During its March meeting Monday night, the county commission is scheduled to consider approving a sublease of the former New Life Youth Home to Transitions of Dyer County. The youth home is situated on former county farmland north of Interstate 155. The property is leased for $1 per year to the Dyersburg-Dyer County Union Mission, which proposes to transfer the lease to Transitions, an organization that will provide transitional housing and assistance to women and their minor children...

School benefits from Arbor Day celebration

Dyersburg Primary School finally got a few more trees. The school campus has been nearly treeless for two years. A tornado wiped out the Bradford pear trees that use to line the school's circular entrance. On March 3, 19 trees were planted at various locations around the school in celebration of Arbor Day. Pinion wants fewer speed traps set for sources of gov't money

Phillip Pinion has introduced legislation he hopes will diminish Tennessee's growing reputation as a "speed trap" hazard for tourists, but the bill is alarming to Dyersburg Chief of Police Bobby Williamson.
