'Reelfoot Idol' to be selected

The region's best entertainer will be selected April 20 during the Reelfoot Idol competition. The contest will begin at 7 p.m. in the Lake County High School cafeteria. When faced with unwanted plants, farmers and homeowners alike often reach for glyphosate, an herbicide commonly known as Roundup. An effective chemical, glyphosate has a reputation for killing broadleaf plants during the growing season. That's starting to change, though. Agricultural specialists have found that some plants, such as horseweed and Palmer pigweed, have developed some tolerance to glyphosate. Street Department wants to build shoulder along Upper Finley Road

The Dyersburg Street Committee on Tuesday recommended that a 400-foot section of the ditch along the southern edge of Upper Finley Road be filled in order to create a shoulder for pedestrians. Board to endorse I-69 route Monday in formal resolution

Dyersburg's Board of Mayor and Aldermen said Tuesday it will inform the Tennessee Department of Transportation a formal declaration of preference for the final route of Interstate 69. While a decision on the route around Dyersburg was originally expected from TDOT on March 1, an overwhelming response from communities impacted by the corridor delayed the final decision. TDOT officials announced earlier this month that a final route might not be selected until later in the spring...
