Contractors warned to register with county code office

Post office holding mail that can't be delivered

Some houses don't have mailboxes anymore, and some mailboxes no longer have houses. This is the problem letter carriers face as they try to deliver mail to tornado-devastated areas in Dyer County. Dyersburg Postmaster Moyia Clark said undeliverable mail is being held at the post office for victims of the April 2 tornado, and said postal customers need to make arrangements to have mail forwarded immediately...

Storage sought for relief goods

Dyersburg Mayor Bill Revell found himself on Wednesday looking for space to store donations for victims of Sunday's tornadoes in Dyer County, but found in the end it's unnecessary for now. FEDERAL DISASTER DECLARED

President Bush on Wednesday signed an order proclaiming Dyer and Gibson counties as a federal disaster area, allowing federal funding to be made available to individuals. The action also allows Tennessee and the counties' governments to gain supplemental funds for local recovery efforts...
