Red Cross honors volunteers, donors

When Todd Agnew played in the E.H. Lannom Jr. Gymnasium on the Dyersburg State Community College campus, the April 7 concert was standing room only. Jail escapee sentenced to serve four more years

A Newbern man who walked away from a jail work detail last November was sentenced Tuesday in Dyer County Circuit Court to serve four additional years in prison. Anthony Paul Rogers, 42, of 521 Parks St., left a detail he was working with other trusties at the Dyer County Clerk's office in Downtown Dyersburg late on the afternoon of Nov. 22. He was arrested in June in Memphis and returned to the Dyer County Jail. He then was transferred to the state correction department...

Suspect detained for armed robbery at local motel

A Dyersburg man was arrested on Wednesday in connection with an armed robbery that occurred at the Colonial Inn motel on the U.S. 51 Bypass. Police arrested Lysander Willis, 30, of 1850 Curry St., for allegedly using a .45-caliber handgun to rob Allen Ables, who was staying in room 114 at the hotel, said investigator Jim Joyner of the Dyersburg Police Department...

Pratt, Vowell set for local court appearances Oct. 31
