DSCC holding auditions

In a combined effort to bring a cultural treat to Dyersburg State Community College and the surrounding communities, the DSCC Theatre Department and the jazz choir Syncopation will present homage to Broadway next spring. Saddle club fund-raiser is Friday

The Newbern Fellowship Saddle Club will host a barrel race Friday at the club, located at the corner of Biffle Road and Highway 77. Training starts at 5 p.m. with the show at 7 p.m. The evening will feature barrel races in multiple categories for children, youth and adults. Depending on the class of competition, the entry fee ranges from $4 to $20. All classes will have an 80 percent payback with 10 or more riders. Negative Coggins are required...

Indictment: State rep's signature forged in theft from booster club

The wife of a former Ripley High School football coach has been indicted for embezzling funds from the school's baseball booster club and forging State. Rep. Craig Fitzhugh's signature. Kimbra W. McAdams, 44, who now lives in Huntingdon, also was indicted by the Lauderdale County Grand Jury on charges of forgery of two baseball booster club checks written to state Rep. Craig Fitzhugh and allegedly endorsed by McAdams by signing Fitzhugh's signature...

TBI probes storm-damaged vacuums stored in Halls

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is investigating the sale of Oreck vacuum cleaners damaged during Hurricane Katrina that were supposed to be destroyed and are stored in a Halls warehouse.
