Man sentenced for writing worthless checks to pay family's bills

A Newbern man pleaded guilty Tuesday in Dyer County Circuit Court to passing 32 worthless checks and returning merchandise they bought to pay family debts. Jason L. Goode, 26, of 200 Backout Road, pleaded guilty to a charge of theft of property worth more than $1,000 and was sentenced to serve three years of unsupervised probation and to pay restitution of $7,614.51...

A program honoring the Rev. G.K. Harris will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Grace Presbyterian Church. A reception will follow. The church is located at 605 Cheatham St. in Dyersburg. Harris served as pastor of Grace Presbyterian Church and of Greenleaf Presbyterian Church in Tipton County until retiring in 1994.
