Landfill hours extended to return lost revenue

A decision to extend the Dyersburg Municipal Landfill's closing time by a hour resulted in the planned return of a customer whose absence cost the city more than $200,000 in 2006. Wanted man flees from police into icy swamp

A man who tried to flee on foot from police on Sunday gave up after running into the icy marsh north of Christie Street. Deangelo Liggons, 24, of 1909 Monroe St. in Newbern, was spotted at 9:40 a.m. walking from a stalled car on Christie Street.
