Someone spray painted expletives on the side of a wall of the First United Methodist Church and a car parked at the Carmike Nine cinema sometime between Saturday and Sunday morning. According to Dyersburg Police reports, graffiti was found on the church's classroom building reading "Almost As Believable as [Harry] Potter" and an expletive. Church members placed plywood over the graffiti until it could be painted over on Monday...

Police are seeking an alleged teenage gang member who escaped from The McDowell Center for Children on Monday night. The 17-year-old black male is reported to have attacked a female detention officer after he and another male faked a fight to draw attention at about 8:30 p.m.. When the two were separated, the juvenile who escaped hit and kicked the woman and stole keys to outside door.
