Reelfoot wildlife refuge now accepting applications for November deer quota hunt

Reelfoot National Wildlife Refuge plans to hold its annual deer quota hunt on Nov. 9-11. A computer drawing in August will randomly select 200 permittees for the Grassy Island and Long Point units of the refuge. A hundred applicants will be drawn for each unit. The Dyersburg City Beautiful Commission has completed the first half of the year and is continuing its transition with a new chair, a new mayor and a new way of doing things. Art couple add to LRC beauty with donation of paintings

Local artists Jorge and Fire Cruxent of Newbern have placed two paintings on permanent display in the new Learning Resource Center on the Dyersburg State Community College Dyersburg Campus, one on permanent loan and the other a gift to the college. The Dyer County Board of Education and the County Commission's budget and education committee have approved a proposed budget of $22,741,077 for the 2007-2008 school year. The late adoption comes after state lawmakers tinkered with school funding formulas and waited almost two months after normal to give the data to school directors...
