Dyersburg Electric System crews worked to restore power to the Troy Avenue neighborhood at about 10 p.m. Saturday after a tree had fallen, pulling an electrical line down onto South Troy Avenue lawns. Dyersburg Fire Department and Dyersburg Regional Medical Center ambulance crews responded to a house in the 1500 block of Flowering Dogwood Lane that had been struck by lightning on Saturday afternoon during the first rainfall in weeks. ...

Dyersburg State student gov't plans to boost enthusiasm for college

Students at Dyersburg State Community College will not vote again this fall for a leader of their Student Government Association after a tie for the top position last spring. Candidate Jon Boon McNutt withdrew from the election in late July, citing other obligations as the reason for his decision. McNutt will resume his previous level of participation within the SGA and serve as Senator in the organization. City eyes enforcing grease trap inspections

The city of Dyersburg will get tough with local businesses that do not comply with an ordinance concerning the cleaning of grease traps in restaurants in the area. At Friday's meeting of the city's Gas, Water and Sewer Committee, Gas, Water and Sewer Distribution Director Mike Morgan asked members what steps the city would like him to take in correcting businesses that are delinquent in the inspection of their grease traps...

'Fireflies' to save money for gas and water

The city of Dyersburg will complete the installation of automated meters for the gas and water departments in the next few months instead of staggering the process over the next eight years as previously planned. Members of the city's Gas, Water and Wastewater Committee recently completed a study comparing the price of allowing Datamatic of Fort Worth, Texas to install the rest of the 'firefly' automated meters and purchasing the meters slowly over the next eight years and employees of the gas and water departments installing the meters themselves.. ...
