Choctaws roll in season opener against Liberty

Magnet, 27-7, thanks to a superb game from the Choctaws' defense and special teams. Interceptions, penalties and lost yardage abounded on both offenses, yet Dyer County was the team that took full advantage of its foe's offensive discomfort throughout the game, chasing beleaguered Liberty quarterback Yeri Bethea and his backs to their own 2-yard line on fourth down at one point, thanks in part to the tenacity of Choctaw outside linebacker Jeff Miller.. ...

Dyersburg applies mercy rule in win over Frayser

Dyersburg's Rashad Taylor had 11 carries for 117 yards and three touchdowns as the Trojans opened the season with a solid, though somewhat sloppy, 49-14 win over visiting Frayser. Taylor scored on runs of 54, 2, and 14 yards while throwing two touchdown passes of 12 and 40 yards in the opening game of his senior campaign. Though Taylor's numbers were impressive, there is a lot of room for improvement according to Dyersburg head coach Darren Bowling...
