Mentally ill man charged with aggravated kidnapping

A mentally ill man was charged with aggravated kidnapping after police responded to sounds of a struggle inside an apartment on Monday. Frank McDonald, 46, a resident of the Courtland Square apartments at 1175 South Main St., was taken into custody at about 7:24 p.m. after police entered a room and found an unclothed teenage girl sitting on a bed screaming. Dorothy Campbell Lanier, 77, of Dyersburg, died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2007 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center. She was a retired employee of the Dyer County Court Clerk's Office and a member of First Christian Church.
