Admissions to Reelfoot Manor suspended

Tennessee Department of Health Commissioner Susan R. Cooper, MSN, RN, has suspended new admissions of patients to Reelfoot Manor effective Oct. 3 and imposed a state civil monetary penalty of $1,500. A federal civil penalty has been imposed at $5,550 per day effective Aug. 9, 2007, and continuing until the violations are corrected. A special monitor has been appointed to review the center's operations...

Board questions recent conduct of police officer

GATES -- As the Board of Mayor and Aldermen examined a new schedule for the town's police department during Tuesday night's meeting, the conduct of a part-time officer sparked a lengthy debate. While looking over the new schedule, Police Chief Jeff Crowder voiced concerns about witnessing the officer, whose name was not mentioned, watching television in the chief's office "with his feet propped up on the desk when he should have been out on patrol."...
