Lady Trojans end emotional week with loss to Lady Chargers

The simple fact the team showed up for the District 13-AA contest at Martin was something to marvel at in itself. The 59-56 loss to the Lady Chargers paled in comparison to what the DHS Lady Trojan basketball team had been through Friday. Tempo the key in Milan win over Dyer County

Lady Choctaws coach Angie Stafford knows that on a good night her squad will control the pace of the game, get their blocks and attack the goal for a multitude of 2-point baskets. Friday night at Milan was not one of those nights. The Lady Bulldogs gave the Lady Choctaws more match-up problems than they could deal with, and it quickly showed. Sitting down to focus on what to say this week has been a chore in itself. Never at a loss for words, this week I have gone through a full range of emotions. Sadness, confusion, and even a large dose of bitterness have overwhelmed me to the point I am almost don't have the words to express what it is truly on my mind, but there is a job to be done and a space to be filled...

Choctaws crush Bulldogs to remain undefeated

When it was all said and done the Bulldogs of Milan were impressed with the Choctaws more than anything else. When an opponent holds them to 48 points at home and limits scoring machine David Vaughn to 12 points it's hard not to be. Opening the game with a modest 19-15 lead in the opening quarter, the Dyer County squad were quick to hit their stride defensively, keeping Milan from scoring for seven minutes in the third quarter while 13 Choctaws found the point column to give Dyer County an 81-48 victory over the Bulldogs.. ...
