Dr. Johnny B. Joyner was named 2008 Physician of the Year by Dyersburg Regional Medical Center at its annual Physician Appreciation and Awards Banquet on Tuesday, April 1, at the Farms. City Board 5-4 vote to uphold firing of sanitation worker

The Dyersburg Board of Mayor and Aldermen met Thursday for an appeal hearing for a city sanitation worker who had been terminated for excessive absenteeism over the past three years. Parents arrested for neglect

A couple was arrested on Thursday on child neglect charges after Dyer County Sheriff's deputies discovered their children living in filth and the mother passed out drunk in the house. Jimmy Darrell Sweat, 45; and Cathy Ann McCartney, 48, are lodged in the Dyer County Jail on aggravated child abuse and neglect of the child less than six years of age. Ford guilty on 37 counts in federal fraud case

Two Dyersburg men were found guilty by a federal grand jury in Memphis on Thursday on more than three dozen counts of conspiracy to defraud, wire fraud, mail fraud and money laundering. Dixie Inez Johnson Parnell, 97, of Newbern, died Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at her residence. She was a homemaker, a two-time world champion of the Tennessee Walking Horse Celebration held in Shelbyville, and inducted into the Tennessee Walking Horse Hall of Fame along with her husband, James Franklin Parnell, in 1981. They were the first non-professionals and the first couple to be inducted, and she was the third woman to be inducted in the Hall of Fame...
