City begins effort to prioritize repairs to damaged streets, sidewalks

The City of Dyersburg will again take advantage of the latest technology to address an age-old problem with the beginning of its pavement management program. Using GIS and GPS technology, city officials will soon have information on street and sidewalk conditions throughout the city at their fingertips. The data can then be used to determine where problem areas like potholes, cracks and rough spots are and which streets to repair as funds allow...

Students who recently participated in Dyersburg State Community College's Tour the World completed many fun activities to teach them about Germany, China, Ireland, New Zealand, several Spanish-speaking countries and the good old U.S.A. Jetting around the globe while remaining in Dyersburg's Professional Development Center, the group ended their week as travelers of the world. And, as a finale, several of the students took part in a very unusual waltz...

Attorney once again suspended

A Dyersburg attorney who had abandoned his law practice was suspended on May 20 by the Tennessee Supreme Court for the second time in three years. Christopher F. Donovan was suspended retroactively for 11 months and 29 days, back to Jan. 31, 2006 and placed on probation for three years...

A Mississippi firm is taking advantage of Dyersburg's growth to present plans for a hotel and restaurant off Lake Road north of I-155. The $6.5 million project has not been formally presented to city planning officials, but real estate transactions and people familiar with the matter said the project could be complete by the end of the year...

Two arrested for fatal hotel shooting

Two people have been arrested by Dyersburg Police for the May 4 fatal shooting of a man in a Sunrise Inn hotel room. Wilmon Sonny Moses III, 33, was arrested without incident around midnight Friday at a Scott Street apartment complex. Moses is charged with first-degree murder.
