Despite the fact there will be two Dixie Boys World Series happening in Dyersburg in the next couple of weeks, am I the only one longing for the high school football season to arrive? Watching baseball and softball tournaments is awesome, especially when there are local squads involved, but as the temperature has seen a sudden rise so has the anticipation for the upcoming gridiron season to get underway...

Ponytails depart for state tournament in Joelton

In today's society an act of unselfishness or just doing a good deed is a job in its self, but for the Dyersburg Men's Softball league and commissioner W.J. Brown an act of unselfishness is just doing the right thing. The men's league hosted an 18-team fundraiser tournament for fellow league member Jason Whitmore who was hospitalized for a month after suffering a severe concussion while playing in a tournament in Humboldt earlier this year were he dove after a ball and hit his head on a teammates knee resulting in him being air-lifted to a hospital in Nashville from the field.. ...
