She was retired Registrar-at-large for the Hardeman County Election Commission after 35 years, a member of Bolivar Cumberland Presbyterian Church, a charter member of Hardeman County Chapter of the DAR and served as librarian for many years...

DHS Key Club begins cookie drive for soldiers

Dyersburg High School Key Club is once again sponsoring the Trick or Treat for the Troops cookie drive. Members are requesting residents to send addresses of men and women in the service they would like the Key Club to send home baked cookies to to pswitzer@k12tn.net by Friday. Residents who would like to participate by baking cookies can drop them off at Dyersburg High School on Monday, Sept. 29. The cookies should be packaged in ziplock bags....

Firefighter's probation revoked in reckless burning cases

One of the Tiptonville firefighters convicted for a series of arsons was ordered to jail on Tuesday. Floyd Kilburn, 52, 209 LeDuke Ave. and 415 Elm St. in Tiptonville, pleaded guilty Jan. 22 to two counts of reckless burning. His concurrent 11-month, 29-day sentences were immediately suspended and he was placed on probation - moves designed to encourage him to pay $15,100 restitution...

Dyersburg's gas price gap continues

Tuesday afternoon, people came out in droves to Dodge's Store, on South Main Avenue in Dyersburg. The simple reason for this flood of cars was to take advantage of the store's low gas prices. The price for one gallon of regular unleaded was $3.30. Tracy Childress was in line filling up her vehicle and said, "My husband called me and told me to come here to get gas."...
