Newbern Board OKs parking spaces, police application for grant

City awards bid for spraying cemeteries

The city of Dyersburg will ask visitors to the four cemeteries within the city limits to be patient in two ways this summer. First, residents are asked to watch for a one-day closing of cemeteries as weeds and "wild grasses" are sprayed in an attempt to promote the growth of Bermuda grass. Former firefighter sentenced in arsons

A former Lake County firefighter was sentenced on two counts of arson Monday in Lake County Circuit Court. Brandon Blackburn was sentenced to three years in prison on each count, with the two sentences running concurrently. He is to serve six months in prison followed by 2.5 years of supervised probation.
