Upgrades at the city golf course -- better late than never

Locally, I believe we are privileged to have two solid courses in which to play the game of chasing the little white ball in a round of golf. Whether you play at the city course or at The Farms, both will provide a challenge to even the best of golfers in the area. Nice courses to say the least and not too pricey either, but both in need of an improvement or two...

Dixie Girls Softball League kicks season off with opening ceremonies

On Saturday morning at the Lyman Ingram Complex on Lake Road, not even the wet conditions could dampen the spirit of hundreds of softball players and their families on hand to officially kick the season off during opening ceremonies. Dixie League President Brian Hinson welcomed all those in attendance before respective commissioners from the SweeTees, Darlings, Angels, Ponytails and Belles/Debs divisions announced each individual player on each team as well as the coaches for each team...

Trojans one step closer to claiming regular-season soccer title

The Dyersburg Soccer Trojans took a giant leap this week toward the 2009 District 14 regular- season championship by defeating Gibson County and Martin Westview on the road. The Trojans record stands at 9-1-2 overall and 4-0 in the district with Dyer County the lone obstacle left on the schedule to complete an unblemished district season and lock down the top seed for the tournament...

Dyersburg celebrates senior night with 11-1 victory

After earning impressive district wins over Obion County on Wednesday and Thursday, the Dyersburg Trojans returned to action on Friday when they welcomed the Bulldogs of Portageville, Mo. into town for senior night. "I think we had a real nice ceremony for our seniors and their parents," said Trojan skipper Tom Mathis. "We are just one big family and I think they did a great job sending the seniors out right."...
