Dyersburg's Whitfield to continue track career at Bethel College

As talented and gifted as many athletes are in the area, only one man can honestly call himself the fastest. Dyersburg's Justin Whitfield signed a national letter of intent to further his education and track career at Bethel College in McKenzie. "It's a dream come true," said Whitfield. Choctaws defeat Westwood, punch ticket to state tournament

After a comeback victory in the region championship game on Wednesday against Dyersburg, the No. 1 state- ranked Dyer County Choctaws met Westwood in the substate game for the right to go to Murfreesboro for the state tournament. "This is another part of our goal. I'm very proud of our guys, they have worked really hard this season," said Choctaw head coach Preston Ozment. Trojans make history with win over Mitchell

On Friday at DHS in a sectional game originally scheduled to be played in Memphis, the Dyersburg Trojan baseball team accomplished what no other squad in school history had ever done before. Playing host to Region 8 champion Memphis Mitchell, the Trojans erupted for 31 runs on 31 hits to punch their ticket to Murfreesboro and the state tournament, winning an easy 5-inning contest, 31-0...
