Henderson - Jamie Canada, age 64, died Wednesday evening, September 9, 2009 at his home in the Harts Bridge Community of Madison County. Mr. Canada was born and reared in Dyer County, the son of the late Herston and Grace Riley Canada. He graduated from Trimble High School in 1963 and had completed many continuing education courses from area Voc Tech schools in plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, and other maintenance courses. ...

County planning commission OKs 1 plat request, rejects another

The Dyer County Regional Planning Commission approved one of two minor subdivision plats on Thursday afternoon. Leonard and Joyce Martindale received permission to subdivide 4.07 acres on Welch Road near Highway 104 East into three lots. Former inmate's lawsuit against county dismissed

A former Dyer County inmate who said he was mistreated lost a civil rights claim against the county in U.S. District Court in Memphis. Larry Eugene Ammons, 47, of Newbern, filed a civil rights claim against Dyer County, the Dyer County Sheriff's Department, Sheriff Jeff Holt and Capt. Larry Bell. He claimed that he was not allowed to make a phone call for six days after his Jan. 18, 2006, arrest on an unbondable parole violation. He sought $4 million compensation...
