Trojan cross-country standout earns No. 1 state ranking

Since transferring from Morristown East to Dyersburg High School two years ago, Trojan cross-country standout Loren Newsom has steadily progressed in a sport where he is currently ranked No. 1 in the state in the A-AA Division. Last season, Newsom anchored an outstanding boys squad, which ended their spectacular 2008 season with first-place finishes at the Best of the West Meet and the Regional Meet, while also finishing third as a team in the state meet in Murfreesboro...

The Dyersburg Trojans hit the road on Friday night when the black and gold squad traveled to Milan for a district matchup with the No. 2-ranked Bulldogs. Despite great effort shown by the Trojans, Dyersburg fell to the top-ranked Bulldogs 35-7 in a game that was much closer than the final score might indicate...
