Over the past 300 weeks or so, the words here on every Sunday but two have been focused on local sports. Some weeks the words have upset a few, made some laugh and so on and so forth, but it's been a joy to share different opinions on the local sports world...

City course flourishing under Baker's watchful eye

When it was announced in the spring of 2009 that Bobby Baker had been named the new superintendent at the Dyersburg Municipal Golf Course, almost immediately the improvements began. The course at the time -- on the brink of being leased or even sold to an outside party -- wasn't in the best of shape and needed some attention in several areas in order to attract not only area golfers, but outside visitors as well...
