Newbern Board approves change to election structure

The city of Newbern Board of Mayor and Alderman approved by a majority vote to change the election structure. Under the new charter amendment, in the next aldermen election the top three vote-receiving aldermen will serve four-year terms while the bottom three vote-receiving aldermen will serve two-year terms.
