Dyersburg 13-year-olds rally for win in state tourney opener

As hosts of the 2011 Dixie Boys 13-year-old state tournament, the Dyersburg all-stars hoped to get the tourney started on the right track when facing visiting Joelton at the Ed Wright Complex. Though it took the local squad three innings to get rolling, once the squad got going, they really got going. The Dyersburg all-stars overcame a 2-0 deficit, rallying for four runs in the fourth inning before eventually winning the opening contest, 7-4...

While many have spent the summer relaxing and trying to keep cool, Dyersburg quarterback Hayden Alford has been busy ... really busy. The upcoming senior-to-be for the Trojan football squad has spent the last three months competing against some of the more talented arms in not only the state, but on a national level as well, attending multiple camps in an effort to gain exposure in hopes of reaching the next level and continuing his career after high school...
