Natalie Smith Brimm, 28, of Dyersburg, died Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at her residence. She was a homemaker, member of Fowlkes United Methodist Church and former employee of Dyersburg Dairy Queen and Electronic Communication Systems. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Fowlkes United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Lowrance officiating. Burial will be in Dyer County Memorial Gardens. Newbern hires former state planner as consultant

The Newbern Board of Mayor and Aldermen approved a contract during this week's meeting to hire their former state planner, Chris Pate, as a consultant for the Newbern Municipal-Regional Planning Commission. Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam and Economic and Community Development (ECD) Commissioner Bill Hagerty announced in April the ECD was eliminating jobs, and small towns that didn't have their own planning departments would be losing their state planners...

Power Board sticks to security deposit policy for area industry

Local industries are seeing the effects of a change in TVA policy, Dyersburg Electric System President and CEO Stephen Lane told members of the Power Board at the organization's July meeting. In March, members of the Power Board learned that TVA had terminated its Enhanced Security Deposit Program, a program DES relied on for industrial customers using a high amount of kilowatts per hour. ...
