Libri Grant provides nearly $1,500 worth of children's books to library

It was Christmas in August last week for McIver's Grant Public Library, with library officials receiving nearly $1,500 worth of children's books through the national Libri Foundation's Books for Children program. Members of the Friends of McIver's Grant Public Library Association were recently awarded a grant from the Libri Foundation allowing them to purchase 86 books for the library at a fraction of the retail price...

Power Board approves participation in USDA loan, grant program

Members of the Power Board will be treated to a view of Dyersburg Electric System's annual audit and a visit from a representative of the Tennessee Valley Authority at the organization's September meeting. Local EMT arrested for prescription fraud

Jeremy Hubble of Dyersburg was arrested on Friday evening by the Lake County Sheriff's Department for allegedly obtaining a controlled substance by fraud. Hubble was arrested without incident at his girlfriend's apartment in Lake County. Lt. Joseph Vernon, chief investigator for the Lake County Sheriff's Department, said that Hubble's arrest was a joint effort with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) but it was the Lake County Sheriff's Department who made the arrest. ...

Dyersburg, Ripley Guard units leaving next week

Tennessee National Guard Military Police units from Ripley and Dyersburg are scheduled to leave Thursday, Sept. 1, bound for Camp Shelby, Miss. The MP buses will depart from the Ripley armory at 7 a.m. At the Mississippi post, soldiers will undergo a brief period of specialized training before deploying overseas.
