The home of John Hart at 1018 Sampson Ave. has been chosen by members of the city of Dyersburg's City Beautiful Commission as the September Beauty Spot. Blooming hibiscus caught the eye of City Beautiful judges, who were also impressed with the overall neatness of the yard.

County School Board approves bids, chooses brick for Newbern Grammar

Dyer County School Board members approved the brick colors for Newbern Grammar School and awarded a bid for roof repair at Holice Powell Elementary School and Three Oaks Middle School at the board's regular meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 4. Superintendent Dr. Dwight Hedge presented two colors for the façade of Newbern Grammar's new building. Purvis attempted murder case reset

The man accused of running over a teenager after a baseball game in April had his case continued until November in Dyer County Circuit Court on Wednesday. Adam Purvis, 18, and his attorney Charles Kelly Sr. appeared before Circuit Court Judge Lee Moore on Purvis' charge of attempted murder. DPD searching for suspect involved in assault

Dyersburg Police have one suspect in custody and are searching for another after an assault took place on Monday morning, sending one victim to the hospital. The suspect wanted by police is John Connell Jr., 28, 329 St. George St. He has warrants out for his arrest for especially aggravated robbery and aggravated assault. The suspect in custody is Angela Nelson, 36, 1401 Meeks St. Apt. 1. She was arrested and charged with especially aggravated robbery...
